Tiffany Exhibit opens at the Musee du Luxembourg
For the first time since the 1900 World’s Fair, the works of American glass master Louis Comfort Tiffany are once again on display in Paris. A tribute to Tiffany’s life and work, “Tiffany: Color and Light” will be shown at the Musée du Luxembourg through January 17, 2010. The 8,500 square-foot exhibit features approximately 160 objects, including blown glass lamps, lead-glass windows, vases, mosaics, bronzes, and jewelry.
New at Hotel Sezz: A Room With A View
Hotel Sezz, the über-chic Design Hotel tucked away on a residential street in the 16th arrondissement, will soon unveil what might just be the best room in Paris. The new 800-square-foot Eiffel Tower Suite will feature furniture by Christophe Pillet, including a freestanding bed (a Sezz trademark) and glass-walled tub for two. But the real reason you’ll reserve Suite #75 is for the stunning views of the Eiffel Tower rising above the rooftops. Also, coming in 2010: Hotel Sezz St. Tropez.
The New Festival kicks off at Centre Pompidou
The Centre Pompidou just launched The New Festival—a five-week celebration of new artists and emerging art forms. The festival, which runs through November 23, 2009, is hosting an array of daily events—exhibitions, shows, conferences, screenings, and concerts.
2009 Exhibitions
Exhibition highlights for this year include two Picasso exhibitions, one in Antibes starting late March and the once-in-a-lifetime Picasso-Cezanne exhibition in Aix-en-Provence, through September 27, which includes the possibility upon reservation, to visit the nearby Chateau de Vauvenargue. It is owned by Catherine Hutin, daughter of Jacqueline Picasso and it is where Picasso lived and worked and where he is buried. It will be open to the public for the duration of the exhibition.
